November 07 Food on the BrainO.K. So it has been a while, but the other day...o.k. not the other day, but several weeks ago, we went to the temple dedication of the Oquirr Mountain temple and after we left, Riley Kate admitted that when we did the "Hosannah Shout", she thought everyone was saying, "Lasagna!"
We got to laughing and everyone then admitted how at one time or the other, we thought food items were the central topic in songs etc. For instance, when Sidney was young, she thought that in the Chorus of I Am A Child of God, when you get to the part....come on you know it...."Lead me, guide me walk beside me, help me find the way. Teach me all that I'm a stew"...
Grace thought "Jesus wants me for a sun bean".
Josie, well I am sure they are coming.
Any of you had any to add? June 29 Are you SURE you don't mean the OVEN?O.K. I have been given the green light to post this. I guess most embarrassing things become funny, if you wait long enough.
So, last minute, I was asked to bring a meal into one of our families in the ward. Having a full day already, I added "stop at grocery store" to the list. Never go shopping in a hurry with a 2 1/2 year old. It took WAY too long. In a panic, I called home and instructed the kind daughter (who shall remain nameless) to please begin defrosting the hamburger in the freezer. I would be home in a minute. No, it wasn't a minute (that 2 1/2 year old thing again). I called again and asked the same kind daughter to please get a pan out, turn the stovetop on and begin cooking the hamburger...after a minute and some encouragement on how to get hamburger out of the package without touching it, this kind daughter asked, "Are you SURE you didn't mean the OVEN?" No, no I responded, the stovetop, just begin and I am six minutes from home. Just use the spatula, break it up nicely and watch it. You are doing fine.
When I arrived home, this is what I found.
I need to cook more with my daughters.
Isn't it great though?!! lol
June 08 Grace is 9!Grace's teacher is in our ward. (We love her!) This also gave us a chance to chat more about Grace than most parents get to chat about their child. About three months into the year, Mrs. Caldwell asked me, "So, is Grace ALWAYS this happy?" The answer is, "Yes!" Grace is amazing this way. She finds the bright side of life pretty much all the time. As a baby, "her" song was You Are My Sunshine and it really does fit her. She is sun and smiles and we love her dearly. She brings sunshine to our lives!!! Happy Birthday, our amazing, cute Grace! May 28 Pajamas...night and day....day and nightJosie has decided that her pajamas are her very FAVORITE thing in life. Yes, they are her new "lovey". She wears them constantly. Couple this with her hatred of having her hair done and well, she looks like an orphan child most of the time. I have to admit how cute I think this is. May-be its because I know she is my last, or because I am just too tired to fight her on something that really doesn't matter, but I let her wear them pretty much anywhere. Except may-be church. I love how she asks to put them on when it is time for her nap. I love how she asks, no begs, to wear them to the store. I love how we often are seen after her nap, around 3 p.m. playing outside in her pajamas. I just love how they help her feel secure and who am I to take that from her? I will let her wear them until its either too hot or she grows out of them (we did find a hole in the toe the other day...) May 17 Hummingbird InvasionBuzz, buzz... buzz buzz...
Biggest bug flying around the light I've ever seen! Oh wait, no, it's a hummingbird! In the kitchen! How on earth will we get it out!?
Why, by mom and dad standing on chairs with brooms trying to shoo it out the french doors, of course! I must say, it was quite a sight!
